Reference the term "Pipe Dreams" in the dictionary and it cites "any fantastic notion, hope, or story," yet it could easily feature a picture of Humboldt County, CA's infamous hip-hop duo Potluck. Living on hope and dreams requires tangible effort to become reality, and this group embodies it all. The duo's unique combo of syrupy beats, neck-snapping rhymes and blue collar work ethic have earned them a position as one of hip-hop's most impressive up-and-comers. Now Potluck is ready to turn their dreams into reality with their new album “Pipe Dreams”.
At first glance, the pairing of a giant African-American and tiny Jewish white guy is perhaps an unlikely unit by commercial standards. This team is no anomaly though and together the team of 1 Ton and UnderRated create some of the most magnetic musical chemistry. It all began while battling one another at a DJ competition. Over time, they would join forces and make the jump from behind the tables, to producing beats, to rocking the microphones with a series of independent releases (2001’s Humboldt County High and 2004’s Harvest Time) that became instant underground classics. In 2006 the group joined forces with Suburban Noize Records for the release of Straight Outta Humboldt, and were given the opportunity to perform on sold-out tours with Tech N9ne, E-40, Twiztid and Kottonmouth Kings.
